CW Coalition Welcomes Three New Members

This summer, the Chicago Wilderness coalition welcomed three new members, bringing the total to 196. The Village of Oak Park recognizes the benefits of protecting its natural resources, trees, and native plantings. The village has an active urban forestry program and forestry commission that provides citizens with education materials and opportunities to get involved. Being a good neighbor is what the Trout Valley Homeowners' Association is all about. Working to restore the tiny ecosystem that they call home, homeowners are restoring streambanks, a fen, and encouraging native landscaping. Friends of the Fox River, a volunteer-based group, works to connect people with nature with fun "hands-on, in-the-water" programs including a Mussel Mania workshop. The group oversees the Fox River Watershed Monitoring Network and sponsors numerous river cleanups along the Fox River and its tributaries.
