Openlands Releases “Troubled Waters”

In January 2006, Openlands Project, the Metropolitan Planning Council, and the Campaign for Sensible Growth released Troubled Waters, a report on the state of fresh water in northeastern Illinois. The report warns that growing urbanization has pushed many regions to the edge of sustainable water use, both from aquifers and surface sources, and outlines a shift to more sensible practices. Governor Rod Blagojevich launched a statewide water supply study the same day. To download the report, click here (879kb PDF document).
