Chicago Wilderness Welcomes Four New Members

Four new organizations recently joined the Chicago Region Biodiversity Council, bringing the total to 148. The Village of Lake Barrington is working to protect the environment through comprehensive land use planning including initiatives such as implementation of a watershed development ordinance, adoption of restrictive measures for development in areas adjacent to wetlands and support of tree preservation. The Village of North Barrington is committed to protecting the health, safety and welfare of the residents, wildlife and environment. The village is working toward the maintenance and conservation of open space through legislation.

The Coffee Creek Watershed Conservancy is working to identify, enhance, and maintain the remnant biodiversity of the Coffee Creek Watershed near Chesterton, Indiana, while providing educational experiences for all. The Village of Brookfield adjoins the Des Plaines River and is bisected by Salt Creek, both of which are bordered by public lands. The Village is working to improve, conserve and restore the land and help improve water quality in both waterways.
