O'fish'al Fish of Chicago

The longnose dace (Rhinicthys cataractae), a.k.a. "the surfer," rode the waves to win a majority of the 10,447 votes cast in the City of Chicago's official city fish election. The election was orchestrated by the Department of Environment during Nature Week.

The longnose dace is a native North American minnow that lives along Chicago's beaches. For a land-based glimpse, visit w15.cityofchicago.org/environment/fish.
