Chicago Wilderness Chairman Receives National Recognition

The U.S. Department of Interior recently gave its prestigious Environmental Achievement Award to John Rogner, Chairman of Chicago Wilderness and Field Supervisor of the Chicago Region of the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service. The award honors employees for exceptional achievements that conserve our natural resources through communication, consultation and cooperation.

This year, Rogner was one of only three recipients across the country. He was recognized for sharing his knowledge and experience across the United States with community leaders interested in developing regional partnerships by applying the Chicago Wilderness partnering model. A pair of loppers, a copy of the Atlas of Biodiversity, a handsaw, and a photo of Rogner hand-pollinating a rare orchid graced a display case at Interior Department headquarters to convey Rogner’s conservation contribution. Congratulations!
